My Work
Sean Slattery’s practice is a means of documenting both Time and Memory through place. Slattery’s work primarily focuses on Lough Derg and its surrounding locale but has broadened to encompass the Irish landscape as a whole. Slattery’s work touches on elements of Time, from both the initial direct experience to the passage of time and how this means of viewing the landscape can be both meditative and spiritual. To achieve this vision Slattery utilizes mediums such as etching, drawing, videography and photography. Slattery’s work gives the viewer a sense of the Ethereal and how the landscape can transcend into something more powerful than how it is viewed in today’s culture. Slattery sees the landscape as a way of forming pathways that shape, mould and construct new ways of thinking that is extremely positive and beneficial for whoever engages with it.
